Nokia Theatre in Times Square hosts The Best Damn Comedy Show Period. This no-holds-barred stand-up show features four of the city's funniest and most outspoken comics: Colin Quinn, Jim Florentine, Nick DiPaolo, and "Reverend" Bob Levy. Quinn is a veteran of Saturday Night Live and host of Comedy Central's Tough Crowd; the comics have been seen and heard on the Howard Stern Show, Opie & Anthony, Comedy Central and HBO.
I was never at the Nokia Theatre, which is at Broadway and 45th Street (1515 Broadway). This is really an excellent venue; at least two bars and lots of space to mingle about, plus the bathrooms are huge, which can be important too. The theatre itself was pretty nice, although the armless, folding chairs weren't too comfortable.
What kinda got me twisted though was that in order to get a drink at the bar you had to show your driver's license. No big deal, right? Of course not. Except they use some sort of bar code reading device which read my age and address and now they have all that information on some computer system, and who the heck knows what they're doing now with all my personal information, and they have my credit card on file now too because I used that to buy drinks. Somewhere, somehow, this system is going to lead to identity theft and fraud.
